Abstract


Reworking memory critically examines multi-perspective issues under the macro narrative of the mainstream media of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially neglected personal experiences. Specifically, the project uses oral histories to record the most impressive days of Wuhan citizens living in the 76-day lockdown, and uses graphic novels as a means of global sharing stories that are not limited by language to confront the collectives written by mainstream media elites memory.

This work is built on some temporary social groups or private non-profit groups, such as Stochastic Volatility, WeiboTopic, etc. They provided emotional exchanges, medical assistance, mutual aid and other public welfare activities for everyone during the lockdown period, which healed people's injured hearts to a large extent.

Reworking memory is presented as text and performance. In the form of postcards, the book collects, creates, communicates, exchanges, and recycles as a performance form as a means of cultivating and sharing polyphonic collective memory. All kinds of stories are a multi-perspective narrative, an increasingly vague and lighter memory trace in this way in the long river of memory and time.
